Job Summary - a concise overview of the job

The Strategic Sourcing Manager participates in the development and design of processes, objectives, strategies and/or work products in order to drive standardization and efficiencies leading to function success. This role is responsible for maintaining effective relationships with external partners and internal cross-functional teams, including but not limited to Business Development, Technical Operations, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Program Management, and R&D.

All incumbents are responsible for following applicable Division & Company policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Sourcing = 100%

Participates in the development and design of processes, objectives, strategies and/or work products in order to drive standardization and efficiencies leading to function success. Systems implemented align with corporate goals and strategies for the category.
Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and partners toward the achievement of functions strategies and goals.
Ability to manage external to internal relationships yielding the best possible outcome(s) for partnerships.
Prospects, identifies, and on-boards value-added suppliers, creating and fostering win-win partnerships fueling business growth.
Contributes toward the cross-functional and multi-disciplinary contract negotiations with external partners, keeping all parties satisfied, and contributing to key business relationships.
Contributes toward departmental annual savings target through negotiations and supply chain optimization projects. Identifies pipeline opportunities for future pursuit.
Participates in supply chain optimization discovery and business case proposal process in connection with the achievement of the annual savings target.
Maintains effective cross-functional relationships with internal cross-functional teams, including but not limited to Business Development, Technical Operations, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Program Management, and R&D.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience and certifications required for the job

Bachelor s degree with a minimum of 6+ years related work experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a concentration in contract manufacturing, purchasing, business development and supply chain.
Previous experience effectively communicating and working professionally with internal and external personnel at all levels.
Strong background in Pharmaceutical Ingredients sourcing is desirable.

Knowledge

Proficiency in a body of information required for the job

e.g. knowledge of FDA regulations, GMP/GLP/GCP, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, etc.

Strong knowledge of key manufacturers/suppliers and associated specialties.
Understanding of the Pharmaceutical business including the branded/generic market, competitive landscape and legal environment as it pertains to R&D API procurement.
Knowledge of computer systems and software applications.
Understanding business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to profitability.
Strong understanding of cGMP requirements, contract negotiations, and related practices.
