Our client is part of as multi-billion-pound global organisation employing more than 70,000 staff in more than 80 countries and are recognised market leaders in their niche manufacturing sector. As a result of continued success and a positive restructuring exercise, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and dynamic Production Development Manager to complement their established and professional team.

Reporting to the Director of Production for the UK, the successful candidate will be responsible for the identification, implementation and delivery of strategic business initiatives such as efficiency improvements, application of best operating practices in customer service, product quality, efficiency and reliability in production operations throughout the UK in line with business requirements and aligned with both global and regional production strategies.

You will be the source of specific expertise in production operations and tasked with improving the efficiency of all filling and testing operations through the identification of Best Practice both within and outside the group and will support the adoption of these procedures throughout all Production locations whilst proactively developing the production strategy to inform investment, maintenance and capex and support the implementation, as well as leading National Productivity / LEAN Projects and identifying and driving the implementation of plant automation and the use of digital tools whilst ensuring site resources are planned and aligned to volume changes both current and future.

Key responsibilities for this varied and challenging senior Production Development Manager role will include (but not be limited to):

Leadership and management of strategic activity related to the future state of the Production function, developing and implementing the production strategy through delivery of projects to achieve our objectives.
Project initiation, business case development and implementation.
Assisting branches in achieving production and testing targets related to SHEQ, Service, Productivity and efficiency targets, requiring occasional travel to site
Identify, implement, monitor and deliver improvements to support the production branches achieve their 5% year on year efficiency operational cost saving.
Identifying Global Best Operating Practices and incorporate these using Six Sigma project methodology to identify problems, develop solutions and quantify results.
Supporting the Asset Control Lead to ensure accurate stock data is maintained, customer demand can be met and cost-effective production is sustained
Improving customer service-related issues (stock shortages, RCA and the implementation of corrective and preventative measures and ensuring SLA agreements are adhered to)
Identifying best practices and developing tools and developing and train staff in production planning techniques and processes to be adopted.The successful Production Development Manager candidate will encourage all branches to adopt and maintain continuous improvement and lean initiatives and will develop, produce and monitor monthly reporting information to monitor the performance of production operations via standard KPIs, and both monitor and manage all assigned production projects to budget and time scales. You will also support the adoption of technology and digitalisation agenda through the identification of relevant technologies, recognition of their potential for improvement supported by a business justification, and implementation through cradle-to-grave project management.

It is envisaged that the successful candidate will be degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline and demonstrate proven success in the implementation of strategic programmes, change management and continuous improvement and LEAN / Six Sigma Green Belt qualifications. Experience of cylinder operations, relevant cylinder inventory transactions and SAP is required, with RCCP customer demand forecasting and planning experience proving advantageous, and knowledge of ISO9001:2015 operating procedures and systems and of LIMSS / TRACCESS also proving beneficial.
