Rehabilitation Officer
We are looking for an experienced Rehabilitation Officer who specialises in visual impairments to join a large Leicester-based charity.
Position: Rehabilitation Officer
Location: Visiting locations across Leicestershire
Salary: GBP30,517 Per annum
Hours: Full Time (37 hours per week)
Contract: Permanent
About the role
We are looking for a Rehabilitation Officer to work with visually impaired individuals and promote independence through reablement programmes that will enable adults and their families to overcome the effects of visual loss.
The role is divided into two parts with half your time working with adults and the other half working with children and young people. Conduction visits to those who require support, where you will carry out reablement assessments to implement a comprehensive reablement programme.
Some duties and responsibilities include:
- Accepting referrals from multiple sources to build your caseload
- Carrying out reablement assessments in various locations to help design reablement programmes
- Teach a range of independence skills to your clients
- Assess the need for equipment for each case you work on
- Write up records while working remotely in line with agreed timescales
- To keep up to date with new technologies and equipment
About you:
You will need the following essential skills and experience:
- A Diploma in Higher Education in Rehabilitation Studies
- Recognised Habilitation Officer qualification for Visual Impairment or prepared to work towards
- Working with people of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds
- Experience in working with all age groups
- Experience of supporting people with a disability
- Excellent written and verbal communication
