Founded in 2015 by DevOps experts, Gearset is designed to help every Salesforce team apply DevOps best practices to their development and release process. Over the last two years we've more than doubled our headcount, and we're not done growing yet!
What's the opportunity?
As our first dedicated frontend engineer at Gearset you'll be responsible for building highly functional, easy to use, and beautiful UIs. We already build a world class user experience, but you'll help push this to the next level by working with UX to go above-and-beyond on our workflows, and setting the new standard for polish to make every single user interaction with Gearset one that they'll love and shout about. You'll be leading by example and influencing the other engineers around you to write better and better frontend code through your passion and expertise.
This role will be great for you if you love building brilliant UIs which are designed around creating the most effective user workflows possible, helping users get more done with less effort, while also delighting them with the attention to detail and polish of the tool they're living in. You're coming from a similar frontend role elsewhere, you care passionately about great code design and architecture, and keep up-to-date on the frontend technology landscape and understand how and when to apply advancements to solve problems and improve our speed of delivery.
As our first Frontend Engineer, You'll work on a variety of things:
Hands on development of our UI alongside the various engineering teams
Become embedded in project teams for longer running projects with a significant UI component
Drive the creation, adoption, and continuous improvement of frontend coding practices.
Help build a great product experience using React
Work with PM, UX, and the engineering teams to design world class user interfaces
Be involved in research calls with customers to stay connected to the problems they are facing
Take our UI to the next level, delivering aesthetics that are as polished as the workflows which underpin them
Be involved in driving improvements to both the product itself, and our internal facing tools
You'll be a good fit if:
You're highly technical, have specialised in frontend development, and you've got a number of years of experience in a similar role
You've worked with various technologies, such as React, but enjoy working with whatever you need to to get the job done
You're familiar with using frontend build systems and toolchains, understanding how to put together and tweak CI/CD systems and make use of tools such as Webpack
Frontend technologies are your thing, you're up-to-date on trends, seek to understand the benefits of of them, and pragmatically adopt them to solve specific problems
Code quality and well architected software are important to you and you've been a driving force for these at previous companies
You have an opinion on what good automated testing looks like. You reach for it by default, and understand what is and isn't useful to test
You get the most out of working close to the user, seeking to understand the issues they're facing, how they work, and ultimately how best to solve their problems
Feedback drives you, you seek it out constantly, and use it to iterate and improve on what we've built

About us
Gearset is the leading DevOps solutions for the millions of people developing on Salesforce, the world's biggest CRM. We have the fast paced exciting environment of a start-up, with the success, stability, and ambition of a scale up.
In a few short years, we've rocketed from a 7 person start-up to over 160 people, and have become the DevOps solution of choice for some of the world's biggest companies, including IBM, McKesson, and even Salesforce themselves. In the last 18 months we've opened offices in Belfast and Chicago, alongside our Cambridge (UK) HQ.
We're proud of what we've built and how we've built it. We work as a team, where attributes of trust, openness and honesty are key, as they allow us to have a feedback-driven culture that keeps us improving to deliver the best solution for our customers.
Alongside our Glassdoor score of 4.9/5, and customer G2 scores of 4.7/5, we recently received three awards from Best Companies UK in 2022. This includes the Best Company to work for in the East of England, UK Top 5 Best Mid-Sized Company and Top 3 Best Technology Company to work for in the whole of the UK
