Maintenance Engineer

Based in Blackburn

12 hour shift, 4 on, 4 off. 6:00am - 6:00pm / 6:00pm - 6:00am

Saturday night shift is always off.

Job description

Pets Choice are recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to be based at our production site in Blackburn. The role will work closely with our production team. You will be responsible for maintaining and servicing all processing machinery across two sites, ensure that machine downtime is kept to a minimum and that all preventative maintenance is conducted in advance to avoid production disruption.

• Carry out preventative maintenance, fault finding and deal with machine down-time efficiently.
• Action repairs and ensure that all measures taken are recorded so recurrent faults can be recognised
• Electrical and mechanical proactive and re-active maintenance
• Provide assistance in troubleshooting and identification of equipment problems
• Maintain relationships with production operators to foster a good team environment when working on the equipment.
• Write SOP's and other technical documents in support of the engineering department as well as the end users.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and practices.

Skills & Requirements

• Electrical bias with mechanical skills.
• Time served electrical apprenticeship or equivalent.
• ONC/HNC in engineering or equivalent.
• Experience gained from food manufacturing
• Able to demonstrate a methodical approach to fault finding, including PLC's
• Familiar with Health & Safety rules, regulations and best practices
• Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
