Assistant Manager - Economics & Regulation - Energy & Natural Resources

Location: London (hybrid working)

This Corporates Energy and Natural Resources team is growing rapidly and expanding the range of sectors we cover.

The energy and natural resources sector is experiencing unprecedented challenges at present, in particular around decarbonisation as countries around the world seek to put their economies on a pathway to meet stretching net zero targets. This is driving rapid change and disruption in the sector, as new business models and technologies emerge to serve the changing needs of consumers and companies. More than ever, our clients in the sector need clear-sighted, robust advice to help them navigate and solve the problems they face.

About us

Our team of economists, regulatory, compliance and low-carbon specialists supports our clients with:

Strategic advice around regulatory and policy issues in the sector;

Economic analysis, both around sector price controls and wider low-carbon policy (including impact assessments and cost benefit analysis);

Policy implementation and delivery;

Stakeholder engagement, including responses to Government consultations;

Scenario modelling around low-carbon futures; and

Compliance, assurance and monitoring services;

We currently cover the following sectors:

Natural monopoly regulated companies (gas and electricity networks and water companies);

Electricity wholesale and ancillary services markets;

Retail utilities;

Industrials and manufacturing;

Sector services partners e.g. Xoserve, Elexon

We are seeking to grow and maximise opportunities in:

Services around Net Zero strategy and implementation for both public and corporate clients;

Strategic and economic advice to participants in wholesale and balancing markets;

Planning and implementation of the 'hydrogen economy';

Economic regulation in the water sector, in particular support for water companies developing business plans for the 2024-29 period; and

Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) agenda compliance and assurance services.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join us for our next stage of growth and diversification.
