We have several excellent Electrical and Instrumentation Technician opportunities with one of our clients whom are a growing global contract research organisation. This role will be for one of their sites based in the Northumberland area.
This site is an established cGMP manufacturing services for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), ranging from pilot plant to commercial metric ton scale.
The role of the Electrical and Instrumentation Technician will be to support the plant s continual production processes on a reactionary basis to cover all repairs, Electrical and Instrumentation planned maintenance, and installation.
Defined 12 hour shift pattern - shift allowance provided
Key roles and responsibilities:
Risk based Inspection, Test & Maintenance of E/I Assets to include:
Functional Safety & Trip Systems
Electrical Systems - LV Operations, HV Awareness
Control of E/I Ignition
Control Systems
Carry out scheduled inspection, testing & maintenance of electrical & instrumentation assets based (e.g., Ex Inspection, Earthing Inspections, emergency lighting etc)
Carry out electrical & instrument Isolations and reinstatement
Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance work, statutory inspections, calibrations, and breakdown/reactive work within a hazardous area environment (CompEx)
Complete all E/I paperwork associated with both scheduled and reactive work
Installation of new electrical and instrumentation systems
Carry out checks on automated process systems (DCS), local control systems (PLC) to ensure that they are functioning within design parameters
Calibration of process and safety critical instruments to recognised standards
Accurate completion of calibration records
Accurate completion of electrical check sheets (Lighting, Trace Heating etc)
Act as a Site E/I Competent Person
Fault find on complex E/I faults and carry out necessary repairs
Work with and assist contractors as necessary (e.g., HVAC contractors)
Install and commission all new electrical and instrument systems in conjunction with a Project Engineer
Essential requirements:
CompEx (1 - 4) Certified
Demonstrable experience in a Electrical or Instrumentation
Demonstrable problem-solving skills with a well organised and structured approach to work
Desirable requirements
HNC Electrical / Electronic Engineering or Instrument and Control
City & Guilds 2382-17 or 18
Compex 5 & 6
COMAH site experience
cGMP chemical / pharmaceutical plant experience
Eng-Tech registered with IET
Electronic Document Management System experience
Qualification(s):
NVQ level 3 or trade equivalent in Electrical or instrumentation. Eg BTEC or C&G
