Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer (Permanent Position
Salary: Between GBP30K and GBP35K depending on the individual candidate's experience.
Location: Manchester
My clients are currently looking for an Engineer with experience in flood risk assessment and drainage infrastructure design, to assist in dealing with an increase in workload and the further development and expansion of the team and the Firm.
They are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to work on the appraisal and design of various projects. The post is within the civil engineering team which is responsible for the provision of pre planning advice and the design of highway and drainage schemes for commercial, industrial and residential developments.
You will have experience in informing the design of sites from inception to completion, including the preparation of NPPF-compliant flood risk assessments and drainage appraisals incorporating appropriate SuDS in accordance with the Local/Water Authority requirements. The ideal candidate would have a working knowledge of Microdrainage and/or Causeway Flow, AutoCAD and GIS.
Experience of detailed drainage design (Section 104), road design (Section 38 & 278 , and a working knowledge of PDS or Civils 3D would be advantageous but not essential.
The candidate should possess a relevant qualification, preferably to degree standard. Professional status would be an advantage (such as C.Eng or I.Eng). They should be eligible to live and work in the UK and will ideally have at least 3 years previous UK based consultancy experience within this field of work.
In addition to the above, the suitable candidate will possess:-
• Capability to work independently or with the design team.
• Ability to delegate work to others and act in a mentoring role to less experienced staff.
• Knowledge and understanding of current technical standards and policy.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience liaising with clients, design team members and consultees, including attendance at meetings.
• Ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
• Hold a full UK Driving Licence.
