Purchasing Manager required for my Worcestershire based client, a global leader in the design and manufacture of heavy industry electro-mechanical products.

As Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for leading a small team sourcing and purchasing the best quality equipment, goods and services at the most competitive prices to enable the company to operate successfully.

Responsibilities of the Purchasing Manager:

  • Coordinate with colleagues in different company locations to see if a to negotiate cost and supplier selection
  • Oversees supply chain management
  • Suppliers communication and negotiation
  • Check inventory, tracks how inventory is used, and adjust purchasing habits in accord with trends
  • Forecast levels of demand for services and products and makes orders accordingly
  • Conduct research to source the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
  • Run tenders, evaluate bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors
  • Negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided
  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers
  • Manage and motivate a team of procurement staff
  • Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, internal teams such as sales, engineering, materials control and manufacturing.
  • Develop strategies to make sure that cost savings and supplier performance targets are met - or exceeded
  • Develop and implement a procurement strategy
  • Analyse data and produce reports and statistics on spending and saving
  • ensure suppliers are aware of business objectives
  • Train/ coach members of staff.

Experience and Skills of the Panel Wirer / Electrical Fitter:

  • Commercial and financial awareness as managing budgets and keeping costs down is a key part of the role

  • MRP/ERP competency
  • Commercial awareness
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams
  • The ability to lead and motivate a team
  • The ability to make important decisions and cope with the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines
  • Experience of a similar level of role within a manufacturing or engineering industry.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Stong negotiation skills
