Purchasing Manager required for my Worcestershire based client, a global leader in the design and manufacture of heavy industry electro-mechanical products.
As Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for leading a small team sourcing and purchasing the best quality equipment, goods and services at the most competitive prices to enable the company to operate successfully.
Responsibilities of the Purchasing Manager:
- Coordinate with colleagues in different company locations to see if a to negotiate cost and supplier selection
- Oversees supply chain management
- Suppliers communication and negotiation
- Check inventory, tracks how inventory is used, and adjust purchasing habits in accord with trends
- Forecast levels of demand for services and products and makes orders accordingly
- Conduct research to source the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
- Run tenders, evaluate bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors
- Negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided
- Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers
- Manage and motivate a team of procurement staff
- Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, internal teams such as sales, engineering, materials control and manufacturing.
- Develop strategies to make sure that cost savings and supplier performance targets are met - or exceeded
- Develop and implement a procurement strategy
- Analyse data and produce reports and statistics on spending and saving
- ensure suppliers are aware of business objectives
- Train/ coach members of staff.
Experience and Skills of the Panel Wirer / Electrical Fitter:
- Commercial and financial awareness as managing budgets and keeping costs down is a key part of the role
