NatureScot wants to ensure that nature s value is recognised and grows, so that the many benefits it provides to society can in turn attract public, private and social enterprise financing for both protection and restoration.

Scotland s Natural Capital Pilot Programme (NCAPP) is a suite of projects to test natural capital approaches at landholding, landscape and national scale in order to inform future rural policy and land management support schemes. At a landscape scale, a natural capital approach can help local communities, farmers and land managers make best use of their natural assets to improve sustainability and maximise benefits for people and nature.

As part of this programme, NatureScot is developing a new and innovative landscape scale natural capital tool that will support integrated and collaborative approaches to land management, by informing priorities with multiple benefits. The tool will help land managers target areas in the most need of intervention to ensure that benefits are being provided to the communities, habitats and wildlife that need it the most. Landscape scale approaches are essential for tackling the twin crises of biodiversity loss and climate change, as it allows land managers to take a holistic view for connecting and restoring habitats and ecosystem function.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual, who will be based within the Natural Capital team and will provide support to the Natural Capital Tools Manager to develop and co-design the landscape scale natural capital tool.

NatureScot is Scotland s nature agency. Scotland s nature and landscapes are among our greatest assets. We work to improve our natural environment in Scotland and inspire everyone to care more about it so that all nature in Scotland - our key habitats and landscapes, all our green space and our native species - is maintained and enhanced.

Nature is vital to all of us, so it is vital that we are an organisation for all of Scotland. The more diverse NatureScot is, the better we will be in connecting everyone with nature. We particularly encourage applications from people from Minority Ethnic (ME) backgrounds and people with a disability.
