At Dorothy House, we provide exceptional personalised care to people in our community who are approaching death. That means we ve got you: we re here for our patients and their loved ones, as much or as little as they need us.

Our standard of care reaches deep into our community. Through ten locally-focused Dorothy House care teams, we help people prepare for the end of their lives and equip more people to provide the care each of us deserves.

An exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join Dorothy House Hospice Community Care Team.

As a Dorothy House Hospice Nurse, you'll play an important role in helping people living with a terminal illness to be comfortable and to make the most of the time they have left. You will provide high quality nursing care and participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs for the patient.

You will work as part of a team, using a patient-centred approach and evidenced based practice. You will be expected to administer medication and treatment as prescribed in accordance with the NMC s and the Charity s policies and guidelines. You will also provide emotional, psychological and spiritual support for patients and carers.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and make critical judgements using expert skills and experience in order to provide the highest possible care to patients in the community with cancer or other life limiting conditions. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in assessing and managing the patients needs at the end of their life.

You will be enthusiastic and forward thinking with excellent communication skills and want to positively contribute to the team and the Marie Curie Hospice. Candidates must be registered nurses and a nursing degree, or equivalent, is essential. You will be keen to further develop your skills in a specialist setting. The ability to drive with access to a vehicle insured for business use is also required.

In return, you will get:

Competitive salary

Aviva pension - or ability to transfer NHS pension

Life assurance

Work life balance

Employee Assistance Programme

Cycle to work scheme

Free parking on site

Hybrid working

Our 2021 Services Review identified how we need to work differently to achieve our strategic mission to ensure that "everyone has access to outstanding palliative and end of life care" and has presented us with an opportunity to improve on the "community development" work of the past and engage differently with our communities for the benefit of our patients, carers and families. Put another way, this is our moment to do things differently ? and we are embracing this through Asset Based Community Development. We expect all staff to embrace this strategy and we will provide training accordingly.
