Role Profile

As a Radio Engineer Apprentice working for Telent you will work to create and execute radio technologies into customer solutions.

You will learn a variety of Radio solutions including:

Survey Reports
RF designs
Onsite systems support
Project DocumentationThe role will require you to travel and work away from home as well as in a Telent office to meet the demands of our projects.

Typical Deliverables

This is a development role and as such the role and the responsibilities will grow with you.

Within the role you will:

Learn the requirements and skills needed to become a Radio Engineer
Use the latest radio frequency design tools
Learn the customer requirements and the expectations of designs
Specifically focus on learning the business requirements in Telent for Radio Engineering
Maintain and input data accurately into customer project files within Telent
Liaise with senior system engineers to resolve design queries
Interpret customer requirements, requests and translate to a working solution
Update Visio and CAD drawings
Identify anomalies and work with Senior Engineers to solve them
Create real-life solutions in the radio labs at Wellingborough
Attend reviews to verify solution details are accurate
Ensure designs are completed in-line with requirements and "Right First Time"
Help produce design drawings and documentation
Help produce a Bill of Materials associated with designs
Provide technical support
Help produce initial equipment configurations to enable staging and testing activities
Collate and produce as-built documentation and associated test results
Report progress at regular intervals to the Lead/Senior Engineer

Travel

The Telent field force work UK wide and travel as a key and necessary part of being a field engineer. Even as an apprentice you will travel throughout the country to ensure you learn as much as you can throughout the scheme. So be prepared to travel as part of this role.

The Specifics

The apprenticeship is Typically an 18-month duration
Starting salary of GBP14,000 which will increase throughout the duration of the apprenticeship
You will work with us and our chosen training provider Intequal
On completion of the scheme, you will have a Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification
You will also gain industry recognised vendor certifications alongside the standard qualification
On completion you will be a fully qualified Telent field engineer and can integrate into the full-time workforce
The apprenticeship is a managed scheme with a mix between apprenticeship portfolio work, classroom & virtual classroom learning, onsite shadowing, and vendor exams
This role will work regionally so a vehicle will be provided to enable you to travel to undertake this apprenticeship. You will work remotely from home, from our Telent office in Wellingborough and out on Site so travel will be an aspect of this role.

The Requirements:

5 GCSEs grades 9 to 4. Specifically, in Maths, English and Science or an IT/Computer Science related subject (A to C)
Ideally 2 A-Levels Grade C or higher (Or predicted grades) in a physics, maths, or Computer science related subject
Full UK Driving licence will be essential for the role
Be 18 Years old from September 2022
Be able to pass full Security Clearance
Be able to pass pre-employment Drugs & Alcohol test and adhere to Telent's strict drugs and alcohol policy
Have normal colour vision and hearing
