OPERATIONS MANAGER
Leading UK Food Manufacturer South Wales
GBP50-55,000 + Benefits
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will be responsible for all activities that occur within the food manufacturing facility and have extensive experience of food manufacturing. This new role in the Food manufacturing industry requires an effective leader to demonstrate core leadership skills and will have direct responsibility for all manufacturing operations and support operations.Food Manufacturing experience is essential. You will create a culture that encourages continuous improvement in all areas, such as; safety, efficiency, quality, customer service and leadership. Continually striving to improve and optimise productivity, quality and efficiency, which in turn will create deliverance of financial profitability within the organisation. Experience of working in the food manufacturing industry would be ideal
You will ensure that the business maintains maximum effectiveness by introduction of lean manufacturing techniques to ensure that the above targets are achieved and maintained.

Previous experience in a similar role.

Experience in Food manufacturing is essential.
Degree level qualification in relevant discipline, e.g. engineering, manufacturing.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To develop and implement a strategy that will ensure the Operations function is effective, cost optimised, well-motivated, flexible and continually adapts to changing circumstances.
Oversee the manufacturing operations for a fast-growing food manufacturing facility. Managing a growing team consisting of operational staff and a small management team.
Lead the achievement of a zero-injury workplace by ensuring safe working conditions for all employees and compliance with all Hygiene, Health, Safety and Environmental regulations on environmental, health and safety policies, procedures and regulations.
Responsible for all aspects of operations, setting and achieving KPI s related to safety, service, efficiency, productivity, labour and cost, while continually improving process reliability and performance.
Experience and Qualifications
Degree level qualification or equivalent within a suitable discipline i.e. engineering, business, manufacturing.
Previous experience in a similar role / demonstratable career development within manufacturing and within the food industry is essential.
Experience of leading a team to achieve positive results.
Good knowledge of technical Health & Safety requirements and demonstrated leadership of safety initiatives. Experience of promoting a safety first culture.
Certificate in general H&S e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH.
Familiarity with the operations of production, quality, maintenance, materials management etc.
Strong business acumen and working knowledge process control and improvement tools.
Thorough knowledge of plant operations and procedures.
Excellent trouble-shooter with the ability to resolve problems effectively, and within a cost-effective manner.
Excellent communication skills with demonstrable record of influencing at all levels within an organisation with a participative management style.
Confident decision maker who understands the commercial implications of decisions.
Effective team player.
Proven track record of delivering performance improvements.
Previous managerial experience, with knowledge and experience of HR processes.
Food safety qualification level 3 and above.
HACCP level 3.
Knowledge and experience of external audits.
People management qualification to level 5 or higher e.g. ILM or NVQ.

39 hours per week. 8:00am - 4:30pm (Mon - Thurs) & 8:00am - 3:30pm (Fri).
Travel to work from Newport, Ebbw Vale, Caerphilly, Merthyr, Pontypool, Cwmbran, Cardiff, Merthyr, Abergavenny, Hereford GBP50,000 ++ dep on experience
