TSR are recruiting for an Assistant Technical Co-ordinator for a leading house builder based in Staffordshire. Working with the Technical team, this role will support in delivering the schemes from concept/ planning stage through to adoption. Your role will involve managing projects simultaneously, providing key technical information to successfully deliver cost effectively and efficiently.

The role is ideal for an individual at the start of their Technical career, ideally someone currently studying or just completed a HNC level or BTEC Higher National Diploma in Construction or with a year or two working experience within the industry.

Gain knowledge and working experience of the Planning process. This will include managing projects from initial pre-application through the Planning Process with the assistance of senior members of the team.

It will also include tracking Planning Applications online, monitoring and updating any Planning Matrices, preparing and discharging Planning conditions and managing Planning Consultants, Architects, and other key consultants.

To understand technical trackers and programmes and the importance of day-to-day management of projects to ensure key milestones achieved in line with the programme.

To understand existing and proposed services and obtain service records, diversion/lowering/ disconnection quotations and engage with our Multi Utility providers to obtain quotes within a budget. You will then instruct and manage the service designs through to pre-start on site to delivery in conjunction with the Operations Team.

To instruct and manage all Architectural & Engineering elements of the projects including layouts, construction details, sections, working drawings, ancillary designs, site specific details, levels, drainage, technical agreements, site specific details, foundations, sub-structure.

The team will be on hand to lean on and assist you through the key stages of Architectural design & and delivery on-site, but it is essential that the successful candidate takes full ownership of the projects as this will ensure that the candidate can develop and progress by gaining experience in a unique way.

To ensure that the standard construction specification and standard details are compliant with current NHBC standards, Building regulations, The Construction Design and Management Regulations, Robust details and SAP.

To be responsible for identifying and resolving technical, design and construction problems along with finding cost effective solutions

Register sites on the NHBC portal, understand all NHBC conditions and manage all Building Control related conditions, discharging the conditions in line with the agreed development and construction programmes.

To assist and learn all aspects of SAP, EPC, Robust Details, Fire Safety, Conveyancing.

To gain a basic understanding of the front end of the business exposed to land acquisitions, front end technical appraisals, basic understanding commercially as it is important to understand the full journey from acquiring land to securing sites and ensuring we do so in a way we protect ourselves/cost for any key abnormal and factor in any potential time constraints.

Assist the team with the understanding of Future Home Standards and how this will affect our business in terms of energy efficient measures, renewables, technology, and SAPS and have a commercial awareness of what we do to achieve FHS on our projects going forwards.

To undertake regular reviews of consultants, lessons learned, building reg changes, NHBC to ensure as a business we are constantly looking to be pro-active and not reactive as changes are required.

To assist with the evolution and maintenance of a Standard House type portfolio and standard construction details.

To understand and assist with document management system.

To gain a basic understanding of AutoCad and assist the team with basic CAD drawings.

To form excellent relationships with inter departments such as Commercial, Operations, Accounts, Health & Safety, Land and Business.

Gain a commercial awareness and understand the processing and management of invoices and commercial management of your own projects.

What s expected from you:

Basic technical and construction knowledge preferred

Experience with a Housing Developer or Consultant preferred

Ideally the candidate should have committed to a HNC or equivalent level of academic qualification within the Construction/Technical industry

Competent Microsoft office (AutoCAD skills would prove beneficial)

Organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at one time and learning to prioritise key tasks to achieve time sensitive milestones simultaneously

Demonstrate level of competency working independently and applying an analytic logic and problem-solving pro-active mindset

Excellent communicator and have the confidence to ask questions when don t fully understand things and lean on skill sets within the business to learn and become a rounded individual.

Full UK Driving license required

The key skill / quality for a successful candidate is a pro-active and positive attitude to throw yourself fully into the role and where knowledge maybe minimal or lacking to apply themselves pro-actively, positively to drive projects in line with the business ambitions and growth plan.
