Job Description
Position Title: Java Devops Engineer/CM toolset
Reports To: Head of Technical Services
Remuneration: GBP DOL
Our client is a Gold-accredited IBM Premier Business Partner which has amassed over 300 person years of experience implementing business critical EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) solutions across a range of industries such as oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, utilities, facilities management, transport, and power generation.
They have identified a requirement for a Devops Engineer to work within within their Technical Services division to develop, maintain and promote toolsets and technologies which will support the wider implementation project and support teams.
Candidates should have excellent devops experience and experience of Java development
Specific Responsibilities:
To work under the management of the Head of Technical Services to maintain and develop internal configuration management toolset.
Support development and innovation of new toolsets.
Provide documentation and training to other consultants.
To employ a wide range of both analytical and technical skills to deliver complex solutions that can involve a range of the products the consultancy sells and supports (any knowledge of IBM Maximo, Click Schedule or IIB would be beneficial).
Travel to and work at all client sites, both in the UK and abroad.
Any other reasonable management request.
Person Specification
Skills & Personal Qualities - Required:
Technical Specification development and documentation.
Support development and innovation of new toolsets
Strong knowledge of CI/CD technologies
Azure Devops Pipelines knowledge preferable
Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
Knowledge of Linux
Software development background possessing strong knowledge of the following:
Java
Javascript / Typescript
Working knowledge of code control using Git
Hands on experience in design and delivery of systems on one or more of AWS/Azure/GCP/IBM Cloud
Experience of working with one or more of the following database platforms is highly desirable
Oracle
DB2
MS SQL Server
Be organised, methodical and proactive.
Ability to verbally explain complex issues in clear, plain English.
Ability to produce clear and accurate written English.
Ability to work flexibly to meet customer requirements.
An innovative and "can do" approach; a self-starter who takes the initiative and able to learn new technologies quickly
Skills & Personal Qualities - Desired:
Good intellectual and analytical problem-solving ability.
Demonstrate good networking skills and be able to establish strong personal relationships.
Exposure to IBM Redhat Openshift 4.x is highly desirable
Is able to work well under pressure
Exposure to Websphere
Knowledge of IBM Maximo
Knowledge of the following languages will be beneficial
Powershell
Python
Familiarity with Infrastructure as code technology such as Ansible, Terraform and Cloud Formation is highly desirable.
Good understanding of security principles and practices such as DevSecOps
