We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Bid Writer to join our London & East business, based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. We deliver projects across multiple sectors within north London, the northern home counties and East Anglia. This will be a hybrid role with a mix of remote and office based working.
Being a strong bid writer, you will make sure all the written content in the bid is clear and compelling.
You will have a proven track record and experience of planning, drafting, writing and coordinating responses to bids.
You will be able to construct relevant answers which clearly answer the client's requirements and portray the company in the best possible light.
You will also have experience of reviewing bid submissions for quality and accuracy.
This role is a fixed term contract (minimum 12 months for maternity cover).
Senior Bid Writer objectives include:
- Enhance the quality of bids with clear, accessible written content.
- Writing bespoke answers to customer questions.
- To communicate effectively and influence.
- Review and critique specialist authors' responses.
- Writing and editing bid submissions into compelling and persuasive responses.
- Ensuring the writing structure and words used in the proposal persuasively conveys the offer to the customer.
- Manage a varied workload with multiple conflicting deadlines.
- Understand and include customer-focused sales messages and share with bid authors.
- Prepare feasibility documents with business development team.
- To identify risks and opportunities.
- Owning individual answers (planning and scripting)
- Briefing other bid writing contributors
- Checking the quality of other contributors work and feeding back and/or intervening
- Signing off all the written content before the Director peer review
Essential and Desirable Criteria
Essential Criteria
- Experience of facilitating answer plan sessions, win theme workshops and managing the review process
- Experience of writing and editing bid submissions into compelling and persuasive responses
- Excellent resource planning skills
- Experience of using Microsoft Office
Desirable Criteria
- Use of Adobe Indesign and Photoshop
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification,
- Foundation in Proposal Management (APMP)
- Full membership of secondary technical professional body (e.g CIM)
- Ideally from a background where utilising excellent writing skills is essential, for example: Communications, PR, Medical Writing, Journalism etc.
