Once Britain's best-kept secret, Bletchley Park - a unique heritage site and vibrant visitor attraction - is seeking an Exhibitions Assistant to join their busy Programmes team following the recent opening of their new exhibitions: The Intelligence Factory and the Art of Data.

Bletchley Park Trust s Mission is to highlight the codebreaking achievements of Bletchley Park in World War Two, its role as a birthplace of computing, and its importance and relevance today.

Reporting to the Exhibitions Manager you will assist in the preparation, maintenance and delivery of exhibitions, gallery enhancements and temporary displays, supporting the team with larger projects and administrative support, as required.

This is a site-based role, located in Bletchley, Milton Keynes.

As the Exhibitions Assistant, your duties will be to:

Maintain existing displays within galleries, completing basic repairs and assessing faults in exhibition AV hardware/lighting.
Assist with the preparation and delivery of exhibitions, gallery enhancements and display refreshments under the direction of the Exhibitions Manager, taking some responsibility for smaller projects.
Provide on-site support during exhibition installation and decant, i.e. on-site supervision of contractors, collecting and delivering exhibits and digital photography
Take responsibility for cataloguing and maintaining the set dressing collection (both in storage and on display).
Co-ordinate in-house visitor research projects under the direction of the Exhibitions Manager and perform visitor surveys and produce reports as required. Assist in the development and delivery of new visitor research projects. Liaise with external visitor research contractors where required.
Support the Exhibitions team with administration

Excellent planning skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks whilst ensuring deadlines are met.
Close attention to detail to deliver consistent quality output.

Excellent communication and numeracy skills, with the ability to present detailed information clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing.
Self-motivated, with a methodical, confident and organised approach.
An excellent team player, with the ability to inspire and influence others.

The following experience or knowledge is essential:

Experience of exhibition development in a museum, gallery, heritage or similar environment.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar, and the ability to learn new software packages quickly.
Eligible to work in the UK.

The following skills are desirable, but not essential as full training will be given:

Knowledge and understanding of visitor experience and audience evaluation in a museum, heritage or arts context.
Qualification in Heritage, Heritage Interpretation, Visitor Studies or Museum/Gallery Studies (equivalent qualification or relevant experience).
Experience and understanding of working within the historic/built heritage environment.

This is a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week, usually 9.00am until 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. This role requires some flexibility to start work before 9.00am / work after closing, and occasional weekends, as required.

In return, you will receive a salary of GBP20,000 per annum, rising to GBP21,000 following successful completion of the probationary period, along with a company pension scheme, BUPA wellbeing cash plan and 33 days holiday per annum pro rata, including statutory holidays.
