The Role - Caretaker
Pinnacle Group are looking for a Caretaker to ensure that the internal and external school facilities are available, fully functional, Health & Safety compliant, and aesthetically pleasing where this fails within the remit of the caretaking team.
Duties/Key Responsibilities
•Ensuring security integrity of the school buildings and grounds through locking and unlocking, patrols, monitoring.
•Carry out day-to -day duties according to daily schedule, i.e., littler picking, Bin emptying, sweeping.
•Carry out defined Planned Preventative Maintenance responsibilities in accordance with each school's schedule and individual's skills and Statute requirements.
•Where appropriate provide access, escort, liaise with and assist service providers on site to undertake remedial work or Planned Prevented Maintenance.
•Carry out minor repairs and decoration works.
•Participate in emergency cleaning/deep cleaning activities as and when required.
•Being proactive by noticing deficiencies in the facilities and either rectifying if within capabilities or bringing the defect to the attention of management.
•Carry out initial investigations into reactive requests made during the day relating to deficiencies in accommodation and making temporary or permanent repairs or otherwise notifying management of the need to call in a service provider, in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales.
•Respond to emergency situations such as floods, Drain Blockages and effecting temporary or permanent rectification in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales.
•Capable of working either shift pattern between 06:00 - 14:00 and 10:00 - 18:00 or subject to contract/school deliverables
•Respond to request for porterage and collection of parcels, movement of furniture rearrangement of rooms etc. in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales.
•Daily visual checks of, Doors, BMS, boilers, hot & cold water Systems & ventilation systems.
•Weekly checking and clearing drains, gullies for blockages
•Weekly plant room check/plant changeover monthly change/sterilize shower heads Painting (patch and programmed works)
•Unlocking and Locking the school ensuring that persons are not locked in
•General walk around to check facilities available
•Review CCTV Equipment Function Daily
•Setting up rooms/assemblies against schedules
•Challenge visitors not wearing badges
•Escort from premises and report
•Investigating reactive requests, carrying out temporary repairs and notifying management of further repairs required
•Make safe or Clear up spillages and bodily fluids dependent on requirement at the time.
•Putting up and taking down of sports equipment as arranged with the school requirements
•Issuing of Access permits to both Pinnacle Sub-contractors and Client Sub-contractors in line with received Risk assessments and Method Statements with ongoing monitoring of works.
•Escort Contractors as and when required
•Ensure contractors are DBS cleared
•Any other works required in line with the contract deliverables
Skills Required
•Range of general skills such as general DIY skills, minor plumbing, carpentry, electrical
•An understanding of computer systems such as Excel, Outlook, Word & Sharepoint
•Good customer service skills
•Amenable and approachable personality
•Ability to liaise with and assist external service providers
•Ability to work in a team
•Ability to multi skill
•Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training to develop role
•Flexible and adaptable in approach
