Project Officer (Land & Water Conservation / Wildlife)
Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Salary: GBP24,418 - GBP25,047 per annum
Full time, 35 hours per a week
Fixed term contract until March 2023

Our client are hiring and looking for a motivated individual to join the Land & Water team as a Project Officer.
Wildlife habitats across England have suffered degradation and loss, they are committed to tackling these issues and need a new member of the team. Working with landowners and land managers, the Land & Water team deliver practical conservation and habitat improvements across Shropshire. They deliver a broad range of projects from re-excavating a single silted up pond to creating a new complex of wetlands.
They are now looking to expand their team with this exciting position to help them with a project that aims to restore and create over 40 ponds this year. The new Project Officer will join a supportive and hard-working team at this exciting time for wildlife conservation.
This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic, progressive and action-led team who are committed to investing in their staff. About you
You will be expected to have: Essential:
Relevant environmental qualification/s in an ecology, nature conservation or a zoology subject
Evidence of a strong interest in nature conservation.
Have previous experience of practical conservation possibly including pond management and understanding of amphibian ecology
Familiarity with UK Hab habitat mapping
Knowledge of the farmed environment and biodiversity
Computer literate in Microsoft Teams - use of Excel spreadsheets - Data Management
A Full Driving Licence
About our client
They work across Shropshire (including Telford & Wrekin) to confront the triple emergency of climate crisis, ecological crisis, and people s inequitable connection with nature. They combine advocacy and campaigning with projects to restore nature and to engage people. They manage 41 nature reserves, and they have 46 staff, 500 volunteers, and over 9000 members. Our client is an autonomous charity, but they are increasingly working collectively as part of a Trusts to ensure that their local actions have a national impact and help to address global issues
