Our client is a leader in their field, trail blazing the way in the innovative, creative and inspirational delivery of value adding, products and services to many of the largest companies across London. They are an SME, making them agile, entrepreneurial, and focused on the delivery of excellence to the customer.

They have several business units, supply & set up, Service and Events, and they re engaged both directly by clients and via Facilities Management companies. The business is privately owned, well established and rapidly growing.

In line with this growth, they seek to appoint a proven Operational leader who will support, drive and lead operational excellence as they grow to the next level and beyond. The role has a heavy emphasis on leadership, you will be adept at building, managing and motivating multiple teams, supporting and mentoring your managers and, wider teams, in their development.

Much of the work of project based, so developing ever more robust processes and supporting and overseeing the detail and the delivery of the day-to-day detail will be a big part of the role too. Several projects will be running concurrently, in multiple venues/locations across London for which detailed planning is required. Ideally, you will have experience of managing Operations with a London based business (or similar), have an understanding of the logistics associated with the City - logistics, traffic management, access, security etc - coming from an Events management background would be of interest but others will be consider too.

The company also enjoys a significant seasonal peak in November/December - ideally you will have experience of operations in relation to the hiring and management of temporary workforces/periods of intense workload. You should be experienced in managing suppliers and negotiating costs.

You will be fully supported in your induction and development in the role, after which, you will take a proactive approach to building capability, improving process and procedure and to investing in technology and capitol equipment. You will oversee Health and Safety, staff welfare, training, and all other operational functions.

The company has a modern approach to employment, relaxed, friendly, open minded and fun, yet highly professional. They focus heavily on the development, training, and promotion of their people and, as a result, they have a low staff turnover. It is essential that the new Operations Manager be aligned on this.

Once established in the role you will have a commercial and strategic input too, managing monthly budgets etc. For the right person, this will just be the beginning - it is envisaged that the role be a succession plan for the Managing Director and Owner, allowing him to pursue other interests. This will, for the right person, be a career defining role!
