Vision for Education are actively seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work in an Alternative Provision in Gateshead.

About the role

The role is full time, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30am and 3.30pm. This is a long term role and could become permanent for the right person. You will be supporting young people that have been excluded from their mainstream school for a short time because they have been struggling in one way or another. Some students may have been struggling with their behaviour, some may have been victims of bullying and some may just have a lot going on and require a provision with higher staff ratios. If you are empathetic and keen to be a positive influence in the lives of young people that have become disillusioned with mainstream education... this could be the role for you.

About the school

The school provides a nurturing environment for young people aged 13-16 years of age that need a break from mainstream school for whatever reason. With higher staff to students ratios (typically classes of no more than 8, with a Teacher and TA in each) the school is able to provide a more personalised approach to supporting these young people and help them through whatever difficulties they may be having. With patience, support and guidance, students will be successfully integrated back into mainstream school. The school has a very relaxed, positive atmosphere and has a reputation as a place that staff love to work in.
