Job Title: Chef
Location: Canterbury, Kent
Salary: GBP18,278
Hours: 37 hour week - working 5 out of 7 (will include weekends) between the hours of 7am-6pm (could be as late as 10pm if working in the bar but rota will be given in advance)
Benefits:
25 days annual leave, increasing to 27 after 2 years' service + bank holidays
Christmas Shutdown (3 days annual leave must be saved)
Cycle to work (GBP3k limit)

To contribute as part of the food production team to the menu structure and policies, and to maintain high standards of food, hygiene and service. The post holder will be expected to have a good working relationship with the front of house catering team to ensure the delivery of a consistent quality service.
The post holder may be required to work at other catering outlets depending on business needs.
Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:
Ensure that sustainable dishes are prepared, cooked and presented in accordance with the catering specifications and as directed by the Head Chef.
Work with the kitchen production team and contribute to the success of the catering team.
Undertake daily food production within the kitchen on a daily basis, tasks will be allocated be the Chef de Parties.
Contribute to day-to-day standards with particular reference to food storage and presentation, maintaining the highest level of cleanliness in the kitchen and other areas.
Attend and participate at the food production team meetings and the appraisal system.
Ensure policies are implemented and adhered to.
Ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and adhere to food safety, fire and health and safety legislation.
Complete other duties as requested by the Head Chef.
Establish good communication links with students, staff and visitors.
Report any issues to the Head Chef.
Organise the resources required to deliver the food service operation.
Ensure supplies are available to meet the demands of the catering department.
Keep up to day with policies, procedures and company standards.Experience and skills required for this position:
NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking
Food Hygiene Certificate
Experience of food stock control and portion control
Knowledge of kitchen health and safety
Experience of assessing and writing kitchen risk assessments
Be a team player
Be flexible to work a 5 out of 7 shift pattern
