Job Title: Kitchen Porter

Location: Canterbury, Kent

Salary: GBP18,278

Hours: 37 hours per week - working 5 out of 7 between the hours of 7am-6pm (could be as late as 11.30pm if working in the bar area but rota is given in advance)

This job is focused on keeping the kitchen clean at all times in order to have a hygienic environment, and ensure we meet the highest food hygiene standards and health and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

Check goods inwards, ensure stock is rotated and that stock movement is recorded according to procedures.
Undertake general kitchen tasks including washing up, using the dishwasher, food preparation, cleaning catering equipment and daily / weekly cleaning duties as per the roster.
Ensure the kitchens are kept to a high standard of cleanliness in line with hygiene regulations, maintain a clean walk-in fridge, freezer, and storeroom.
Ensure chemicals are stored correctly in line with the COSHH folder.
Commit to your own personal development and that of your colleagues through effective use of the appraisal system and staff development service.
Monitor daily collection and undertake the cleaning of dirty laundry and removal of waste from the kitchen, ensuring waste is held in the correct containers and the compound is tidy at all times.
Drive the catering vehicle to deliver stock, equipment and prepared food to other outlets.
Attend regular team meetings and staff development sessions.
Other duties as allocated by the Head Chef.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, students and visitors.
Resolve day to day operational needs independently, referring to management when advice is needed.
Organise resources to deliver the food service operation.
Ensure supplies are available to meet the demands of the catering department.
Report any health & safety issues to your manager.Experience and skills required for this position:

Clean, UK driving licence
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
Ability to follow instruction
Ability to be flexible as per your working pattern and the business needs.
Ability to use your initiative
The ability to work under pressure
Team player
