My client are a leading provider of structural steel, steel fabrications and mechanical engineering services supplier to many major companies across the UK.
Due to continued growth and expansion into new sectors, they are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their team, based at their well-equipped, purpose built site based in Cambridgeshire.
Using Solidworks, you will produce designs and drawings capable of providing solutions for mechanical engineering services, fabricated systems and pipework requirements for a wide variety of sectors and services. This may be stainless steel food processing systems, mild steel water treatment solutions, or basic engineering concepts like safety platforms or steel structures. These drawings and designs will be manufactured onsite in the workshop, and installed by the businesses engineering team, so designers with a background in the full cycle 'cradle to grave' concepts would be preferred, however a strong designer in Solidworks would also be of interest.
A background in the fabrication and manufacture of steel systems is preferred, along with good knowledge of structural or pipework specifications used in the design products used in the food or water/chemical sectors. This is a fully 'hands on' role, so will require the successful candidate to undertake the majority of the following responsibilities:
- Liaise with Project Managers to establish project requirements
- Site Measure when required
- Liaise with internal departments to consider the optimal fabrication and installation procedures for the design process
- Create 3D models in Solidworks
- Produce accurate design and manufacturing drawings for both internal and external departments
Ideally qualified to an at least HND/C&G in Mechanical Engineering, Apprenticeship or in possession of at least 5 years experience, you will be able to demonstrate a technical skill set which includes metal fabrication, pipework drawing and machinery design.
