My client, a high-technology Test Solutions business based at Bournemouth Airport, are seeking a Bid and Account Manager to support a large pipeline of project work as well as to further develop some of our key accounts in the aerospace, defence and space sectors. The role will entail managing our bid process from end to end.

You will be responsible for:

Working with the customer in the pre-RFQ stage to understand their requirement and develop a suitable solution.
Creating and owning the overall response - compare ideas and discuss them with colleagues, suppliers and partners to define our solution.
Managing the response team and acting as the primary interface to bring the bid together.
Launching the bid through our formal Gate review process, setting deadlines, chasing progress, chairing meetings, etc.
Writing a high-level technical response (system level), using contributions from the team at sub-system level
Working alongside procurement, produce cost models including any options or value add items.
Working alongside project and resource managers, produce project plans (typically in MS Project) and define the delivery team
Working with other parts of the business to identify group products or services which offer improved value or technical capability to the proposal.
Identifying alternatives such as subcontractors or outsource providers where applicable.
Creating winning commercial proposals which meet the requirements laid out by the customer both from a technical and commercial perspective. Understanding the implications of terms and conditions which may already be in place; negotiating and agreeing new terms with customers where required.
Presenting the proposal to the customer, providing clarifications, negotiating and managing the process through to project award.
Post-award, continuing to own the commercial interface with the customer. This may entail attending monthly steering reviews for major programmes or managing contractual changes.
Identifying additional work, whether side activities or new projects, with the same customer(s) for further development either on your own or alongside the business development team.You will have:

A Degree, preferably in an engineering or business management discipline. An appreciation of electrical, electronic and software systems would be advantageous.
A positive, can-do attitude and able to converse confidently with different skill sets (engineering, production, purchasing, sales, management) and personality types
Experience of working in a project management role, preferably in a structured engineering environment.
A strong team player with the ability to lead and influence others.
Excellent written and verbal skills - confident user of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
