We re recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join and support the delivery team for one of our key customers.

Reporting to the Project Director, the role will involve commercial management of telecoms engineering projects across multiple builds. You will provide appropriate, considered commercial services and support that enables the successful delivery of work packages awarded within the framework.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

Preparation and ownership of a CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) by project, including monitoring of contract performance against budget / forecast

Liaise with the wider commercial team on the procurement of the services of contractors and/or subcontractors, ensuring transparency of rates and recoverable charges

Ability to interrogate costs and maximise value throughout the project lifecycle

Raising of applications for payments

Customer and sub-contractor liaison and job sign-off/measurement

Work with Finance and Commercial to agree reporting deadlines

Able to read architectural drawings and have an appreciation of construction processes, along with excellent numerical and IT skills

An understanding of applicable construction law and regulations

Administration of the contract and control over change management within an NEC4 environment, utilising the CEMAR system

Attendance on site to perform duties as required

Liaise with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers and site engineers to ensure the work can be completed within cost projections

Lead on lessons learnt reporting for project closure ensuring a closed loop for feedback and implementation of identified actions

Ownership of monthly P&L reports, including the preparation the first wave of weekly/monthly project reporting (sign off by the BU Director)

Management and overseeing of WIP

Risk and Opportunity analysis at project initiation

General commercial support

We are seeking applications with the following skills and experience:

Strong project management capabilities including planning and organising workload and working to strict deadlines

Good financial and commercial acumen. Capable of understanding pricing, costs, and profit

An understanding of basic contract language

A completer/finisher with exemplary attention to detail and focussed on result

Confident relationship builder with a proven ability to engage clients through excellent communication and presentation skills

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills to support decision making

Ability to motivate and empower team to deliver high performance standards

Able to remain calm under pressure and maintain quality standards even through busy periods

Background in civil engineering, telecoms, or utilities

Experience of NEC forms of contract (desirable)
