Ashberry Recruitment are looking for a Senior Residential Support Worker for our client based in Warrington.
Main Purpose
Assist the house manager in the effective delivery of care within the home
Ensure the effect running of shifts and the home through allocation of tasks, ensuring tasks are completed within timescale and taking responsibility and acting on any shortfalls
Responsibilities as defined within main duties and responsibilities and key results area for the position of Senior Residential Support Worker (SRSW)
Support, mentor and supervise Residential Care Workers (RSW s)
Assist the house manager in achieving positive outcomes for the children and young people within the home
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To be alert to the signs of abuse and follow company policy and procedure and safeguarding procedures for any concerns on the safety of children and young people
Support the house manager to deliver positive outcomes for the children and young people
Fulfil roles and responsibilities of that of a Residential Support Worker (RSW)
To work on shift following a rota including early shifts, late shifts, weekends, a waking night and sleeping nights (as applicable)
Responsibility for the supervision of RSW s on shift through shift leading ensuring the smooth running of shifts
Allocation of responsibilities and tasks during shifts and recording this on the allocation sheets
Assisting with the cover of rotas within the home
Working within the policies and procedures established by the home and Company
Ensuring all daily tasks, including cleaning tasks, and task sheets are completed during shift and singed off before the end of shift
Ensuring all reports and care plans are complete on time for the allocated shift and/or key child
Allocated key worker responsibilities such as completion of and monthly updates of placement plans and allocation of co-key worker to complete updates for health and education plans within timescale
Monitoring of progress of key child and completion of key working sessions
Completing and recording monthly supervision with allocated team members (once supervision training has been completed)
Completion and recording of handovers between shifts
Undertake and participation in training requirements as directed by the house manager and Company
Ensuring and allocation of incident recording on allocated shifts; all incidents to be recorded within 24 hours
When required (and once safer recruitment training is completed) assist in the recruitment process
Ensuring the company complies with health and safety requirements Coaching and mentoring new RSW s
Supporting new starters at the home with the induction process To actively participate in supervision and appraisals
To promote Equal Opportunities at all times and to ensure that your work practice and actions re-enforce this at all times.
To set a positive example to colleagues and the young people at all times
Undertake additional responsibilities as directed by the house manager and deputy manager
To pro-actively communicate and seek support from the house manager and deputy manager as and when required
You will be required to support children and young people who may demonstrate challenging behaviour with appropriate de-escalation and behaviour management techniques, including the use of physical intervention.
General Requirements for the Role:
NVQ level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent (or to be working towards and completed within one year)
Previous experience of working with young people in a residential setting
Full manual driving license, a vehicle to use for work with appropriate business insurance for the vehicle
Personal Specifications and competencies:
To act as a reliable member of the team and able to demonstrate commitment to the team
To work with flexibility and dedication
Ability to work with colleagues at the home and external professionals Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Have excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Salary
