Writtle Parish Council has a part time opportunity (20 hours p/w) for a confident individual to join their small, friendly team as Assistant Finance Officer.  The main purpose of the role will be to have administrative responsibilities of the council’s accounting, audit and finance ensuring compliance with financial regulations.  The individual will assist the Parish Clerk in managing and monitoring the council’s finances and will work in conjunction with the Clerical Officer, and in the Parish Clerk’s absence will be joint senior administrative officer of the council.  There will also be the requirement to attend meetings of the council and relevant committee meetings as required.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate bookkeeping, accounting, and cash handling experience and should have highly effective interpersonal skills.  A flexible approach to hours of work and day to day duties and responsibilities will be necessary along with administrative and IT skills (particularly MS Word, Excel and experience of finance software).  Experience of Local Government, or similar environment is preferred.
