Temporary Senior Legal Advisor – Legal Services Department

Salary: £35,309 pa rising to £44,123 pa after three years' service. This position is temporary for up to 12 months to cover maternity leave.

Location: Head Office, Salford Quays, M50 3XZ.

The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers is one of the UK's largest trade unions.

A vacancy exists for a Temporary Senior Legal Advisor in the Legal Services Department based at the Union’s Head Office in Manchester.

The principal duties are: to deliver an advice and representation service in employment and industrial law matters to Union members, representatives and officials; to prepare employment casework; represent at tribunals and to oversee the work of the Employment Law Legal Advisors.

The successful application will possess: qualified employment solicitor status is desirable but not essential or equivalent practical experience of employment law and employment tribunals; excellent written and verbal communication skills; planning and organisation skills; negotiating and presentation skills; research skills and IT proficiency.
