Job title: Section Engineer - Highways
Location: Leeds, LS24
Contract Length: 11-12 months
Pay Rate: Competitive Daily Rate
IR35 Status: Inside of Scope
We are looking to appoint a Section Engineer to work on a Highways project whose primary purpose is to be in charge of getting the Site/Section up and running and operating safely. The main responsibilities for this role are strong programme management, daily coordination and supply chain management.
This role is for works on the M1/M62 scheme and is upgrading the central reservation to concrete barriers and will involve removing and reinstating 8km of barrier along the highway and some lighting renewals.
Responsibilities:
Carry out complex setting out
Provision of primary setting out control and recognizes the optimum location for installation
Coaches junior engineers in the use of setting out techniques
Produces a weekly programme and measures progress against KPI s
Communicates weekly programme and targets to the workforce
Monitors as-built programme and reports reasons for difference.
Liaises with subcontractors to ensure works undertaken in line with weekly programme
Produces Activity Control Plans / Inspection and Test Plans and obtains approval.
Actively uses the Specification for reference and coaches junior team members in using the Spec
Ensures that Site Engineers complete the required quality checksheets on a timely basis for the works
Identifies, raises and actions Non-Conformance Reports. Tracks close-out of NCRs within section.
Identifies and raises Technical Queries (RFIs) with possible solutions. Tracks closeout of RFIs within section.
Key Skills/Experience:
Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card and SMSTS qualified.
Strong knowledge and experience working on Highways projects.
Previous experience running a Site and Team
IT skills: need to be comfortable with the use of Excel and MS project with the notion of the use of CAD software.
Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately. Suggests improvements to systems
Able to carry out complex setting out and to identify issues on drawings and suggest construction solutions
Understands and has experience of producing ACP
Actively drives the production of quality handover documentation and information
