JOB: Application Specialist

STATUS: Permanent

LOCATION: South Yorkshire - but flexible on location. You will be required to be in the office at least once a week and there will be travel to other UK sites

SALARY: Circa GBP35k to GBP40k, but negotiable, depending upon experience

My client is looking to appoint a full time, permanent Application Specialist.

As an Application Specialist you are expected to take ownership and accountability for the IT elements of business improvement projects happening across the group. This would include development, infrastructure, environment & installation activities - ensuring completion in accordance with the companies deadlines. You will work predominantly with internal and external stakeholders to install and maintain solutions.

Once implemented you would the need to provide the correct documentation and handover materials so it can be supported at a 1st line level by the IT services team. You will be provided with a structure and platform from which you can develop your skills within the company.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance to all implementation/software/hardware that is occurring across the group.

Design, development, testing and deployment of new integrations and technologies. Ensuring that these projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Take responsibility for integration and delivery of solutions into the group/branch systems.

Provide support to all new projects and handover to the IT helpdesk. This would include providing 1st and 2nd line support where appropriate.

Development of our management and external facing reporting requirements.

Support the Group IT Manager/Director in the development and technical strategy.

The role requires the ability to have deep technical discussion in one instance and then communicate this in a non-technical way to resolve the business issue at hand.

Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, that allow you to communicate confidently and diplomatically at all levels.

Not afraid of taking centre stage to facilitate the implementation of a project/solution.

The ability to translate what is required for a project into the appropriate solution design.

Be able to produce technical documentation and reports.

A passion for solving technical challenges.

Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 stack including SharePoint, Dynamics CRM and Business Central.

Knowledge of Azure development tools would be advantageous.

SQL, SSIS, PowerBI, MS Flow, XML, EDI, Automation Anywhere/Power Automate, Crystal Reports, and SSAS are desirable languages/skills

Is this the right role for you?

The role is based in Sheffield, but travel will be required all over the UK mainland with occasional overnight stays. Subject to a successful probationary period, my client does offer hybrid working.

As this is in a retail/b2b environment then weekend work and outside of typical working times (8-5) will be required.

Preferably degree level educated in an IT subject but flexible based on experience.

Clean driving licence.
