About the role
This role is full time, working alongside and supporting the class teacher to promote learning, engagement and interaction of all students. You will work with the teacher to ensure pupils are supported to access the curriculum, you will also assist with the development and implementation of Education Health Care Plans whilst establishing positive and constructive relationships with the pupils. To assist the teacher you will use strategies to support pupil progress, promote good behaviour, and provide detailed feedback of pupil development and achievements.
About the school
We are looking to recruit for a school in South Tyneside who look after children aged 2-19 years with SLD, PMLD and complex medical needs. Candidates must be happy with feeding and changing as well as being involved in hydrotherapy sessions supporting the children in and out of the pool. There is a requirement to help with moving and supporting the children. Manual handling training is not essential but desirable.
School hours are 8:30am - 4pm Monday to Friday.

Requirements
To be considered for the role of Primary Teaching Assistant (SEND) you will:
Positive and encouraging attitude.
Happy to assist with feeding and changing.
Happy to assist with supporting children in and out of the hydrotherapy pool.
Manual handling training is desirable but not essential.
Have a desire to engage and support children and young people in learning and education.
Ideally hold a level 2 or 3 teaching assistant qualification.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
Teaching Assistant Level 2 desirable but not essential.
