Job Title: ESOL/ Employability Tutor North West - Blackburn
Department: Education & Employability
Responsible to: Education & Employability Lead
Place of work: IMO Office
Hours of work: Variable
Pay: GBP15 - GBP22 per hour
Purpose of post
Over the past 16 years, we have supported tens of thousands of people through a number of health and well-being, education, employability, sports, and community-development projects.
As an ESOL/Employability tutor, you will assist in fostering a rich learning environment by teaching clearly structured ESOL or Employability sessions, at various community venues. Delivery will be needs based, so flexibility in terms of days and times will be required. You will be committed to excellence, offering the very highest standards in teaching.
The Role
We are looking to employ tutors to deliver sessions on Employability and/or ESOL. The tutor would be responsible for:
Teaching ,Setting, Marking & Recording of Students Work including Assessments as necessary.
Maintenance of Class Registers, Work Programmes & Learner Paperwork in your area of work.
Provision of Returns/Records for Internal and/or External Use in your area of work.
Preparation of Reports & References for Students as necessary in your area of work.
Participation in Course & Curriculum Development and Course Monitoring & Review as required.
Undertake continuous professional development as necessary to keep up to date with initiatives and practice and complete mandatory training.
To positively contribute to a safe learning and work environment ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Safeguarding Policies and procedure.
Attendance at Course Team Meetings as required. and any other duties commensurate with the post
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications Essential/ Desirable Criteria
PGCE/Cert-Ed or equivalent teaching qualification. Desirable
Diploma in Youth & Community Work or IAG or equivalent Desirable
Experience
Experience and skills in teaching both groups and one-to-one
Experience of partnership working and creating learning resources an working effectively within safeguarding processes (internally and externally)
Experience of youth and adult participation and delivering intervention programmes
Experience of working in partnership with and supporting young people who are not in Education, Employment or Training
Experience of working in partnership with and supporting adults who are not in employment or training
Knowledge
Knowledge of appropriate Youth Work, Employment and Children sLegislation families including drugs and alcohol, sexual health, CSE and risk-taking behaviour
Knowledge and understanding of family relationships and awareness of local services in East Lancashire
Understanding child protection procedures and awareness of equality and diversity issues
Awareness of monitoring and evaluation systems to measure progress for young people Desirable
Skills/Attributes
Able to empower and inspire people and act as a key worker and manage a caseload
Able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
Able to work using own initiative Essential and follow lone working protocols Essential
Role requirements
Ensure the service is delivered and managed in accordance with the Charity s safeguarding policies and procedures
Demonstrate an awareness of equal opportunities issues and awareness of Health and Safety issues sentia
To participate in supervision and staff appraisal scheme to identify training needs
Willingness to work outside of normal office hours to meet the demands of the role
Ensure confidentiality and GDPR rules are followed and current valid driving license and transport to enable work on different sites
Additional Requirements:
Post holder will go through an Enhanced Disclosure Check.
