We are looking for an ambitious and innovative Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Contracts Manager to work within a high-profile and rapidly expanding brand within the telco industry. You will be a self-motivated and driven individual who has previous experience of working on large scale infrastructure projects. You will be accountable for managing commercial risk and communicating this across a variety of stakeholders within the business and will be responsible for the management of the projects within your portfolio.

The successful candidate will be a confident and clear communicator who can present and interact with senior stakeholders and manage contractors/suppliers effectively. You will contribute towards the strategic objectives of the organisation as it plays a key part in supporting the GBP1b fibre network roll out, helping bridge the digital divide across rural England. This is an exciting time for the company as they ramp up projects and implement new systems to push on to meet their ambitious growth targets.

Duties would include:

  • Raise Task Orders and issue work to Supply Chain
  • Review and accept supply chain Quotations
  • Establish/administer a regime of effective risk and opportunity management, to reduce commercial exposure
  • Participate in value management / engineering exercises and provide any cost information required
  • Administer Task Orders to ensure the organisation is fulfilling its contractual obligations in respect of, Managing change, Applications for payment and Final accounts
  • Ensure Contractors are paid on time
  • Performs assessments of the potential cost impact of proposed changes
  • Supports the ongoing development and improvement of commercial management processes
  • Provide relevant cost and contract advice as required to support both the formation of budgets and the valuation of future work scope
  • Contributes, to and supports the collation of programme and portfolio reports and Management Information

Ideally looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience in high volume infrastructure projects
  • Experience of the project lifecycle, from pre-contract through to successful contract close out
  • Experience of reporting, tendering, payment application management, variations, negotiation, and contract close out
  • Experience of risk and opportunity management

Qualifications

  • Ideally MRICS and or CIPS qualification

Essential skills

  • Previous experience in a QS position within construction/civils
  • Telco experience (desirable)
  • Proven experience of negotiation
  • Previous experience working within large infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of NEC contracts
  • Demonstratable knowledge/understanding of Construction law and standard forms of contract
  • A working understanding of valuation techniques of construction works including elemental cost analysis of items such as labour, materials, plant, sub-contract and general expenses
  • Experience of tendering and pre-contract cost analysis
  • Understands conflict avoidance/conflict management
  • Pro active and forward thinking individual
