Portable Appliance Tester

Duration: Permanent
Hours: 39 per week: Monday to Thursday 8am until 5pm and Friday 8am until 4pm
Salary: up to GBP25000 + free lunch!

The Role:
Polytec are looking for a Portable Appliance Tester for our Cambridge based client to carry out portable appliance testing of all equipment. You will also carry out minor maintenance tasks, including emergency lighting tests and report faults/problems verbally and/or in writing. You should have experience in maintenance work with an electrical bias and be both confident and competent in the use of testing equipment.
Responsibilities:
Test portable appliance to current standards with the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Electricity at Work Act
Carry out minor repairs to portable electrical appliance to conform to manufacturers specifications and current regulations
Keep accurate records (written and electronic) to conform to relevant regulations
Carry out minor visual and electrical tests to fixed electrical installations
Clean fans, light fittings and service simple mechanical and electrical equipment as required
Check and replace lamps as necessary
Requirements:
Qualified to undertake portable appliance testing
Possess an industry recognised PAT testing qualification
Willing to undertake further training as required to remain up to date with current legislation and practice
Adaptable, able to use own initiative within set parameters, and able to respond to emergencies
Comfortable working on your own but also part of a team
Comfortable working at height
Positive attitude and able to work in a methodical manner
Able cycle (cycle provided) with tools / equipment to travel between sites
Driving licence would be beneficial
