Job description
We have an excellent opportunity for a Transport Shift Manager to join our clients depot in Dagenham. Our client is one of the UK s top wholesale food suppliers, supplying the best restaurant brands on the high street.
What you will be doing:
You will work with the transport team in a fast-paced and time critical transport operation to ensure the traffic operation runs smoothly, accurately and cost effectively. It s on you to ensure that the team on shift are well organised, trained and motivated to deliver the operational efficiency targets.
Acting as the lead person in creating the correct environment for our colleagues and ensuring the department is fully compliant and that all operational processes are fully health and safety compliant, and people are led in the right way.
Being a role model and be responsible for setting and maintaining standards within your team. Training, coaching and mentoring all the way.
What we are looking for:
CPC card is essential
Experience with route planning, load planning to maximise efficiency.
You will be used to working with different characters and understand what motivates individuals to be the best that they can be by creating a fun, fair and rewarding culture.
We are looking for somebody who can act as a role model for the Company values, with a desire to assume responsibility and accountability in all relevant areas
Someone who can think on their feet and lead by example. You will naturally embrace an inclusive working environment and be committed to doing the right thing.
Excellent organisational skills, with attention to detail and time keeping.
Ability to relate and communicate with a wide range of people to achieve objectives.
Vehicle maintenance knowledge - booking and liaising for inspections & services etc.
Strong customer relations - you may be informing them of failed deliveries or delays!
Ability to compile and complete business required KPI s using management reporting tools.
Experience in managing a team, including recruitment (of drivers in particular), absence management and disciplinary actions.
