Nursery Village are seeking an experienced candidate as Deputy Manager in our brand new Lydstep Nursery, Southville.

This is a Full Time, Permanent opportunity to lead a large team in a unique nursery in South Bristol with great opportunities for career progression. Lydstep Nursery has a capacity for 150 children across 3 dedicated rooms with multiple free flow external spaces.

GBP29,000 Salary - Full-time 40 hours per week between the hours of 7:30am & 6:30pm Monday - Friday

The successful candidate must have passion and enthusiasm for safeguarding children and delivering high standards of care, in order to successfully lead a large setting in support of your Nursery Manager and Childcare Director.

It is essential that you have a clear knowledge and a strong understanding of the Management and Leadership qualities needed to ensure continuous staff oversight, training and motivation, whilst using your previous leadership experience and great knowledge of current childcare legislation and the EYFS to drive and support the development of our team.

Key day-to-day tasks will include:

Day to day running of the nursery to achieve and maintain high standards of safeguarding and child development.
Mentoring and developing your own team of childcare professionals.
Attending regular training and providing professional advice and support on childcare development.
Developing and maintaining great relationships with our parents, children and your team.
Managing operational budgets and adherence to company policies.

Enhanced DBS check will be carried out and previous references must be provided.

Main duties and responsibilities:

To support the Nursery Manager with overall responsibility for the day to day running of the setting.
To develop a high quality child-centered setting that is in line with the EYFS and any legal requirements.

Children and Families:

To ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of children s learning and development.
To ensure that the welfare of the children remains paramount and they are protected from risk of harm.
To develop and maintain positive relationships with parent s carers and work in partnership with them.
To ensure all parent s / carers are aware of the setting s policies and procedures.
To lead, support and develop an environment inclusive for all and recognises and encourages diversity.
To lead staff on areas agreed with the Nursery Manager eg EYFS delivery, SEN.
To assist with the planning and delivery of a wide range of activities to meet children s needs.
To assume responsibility for key children and ensure their developmental needs are met, accurately recorded and learning diaries are up to date.
To maintain a child-centred environment by reviewing displays, resources and room lay out.

Staff:

To lead, develop and encourage good team working.
To manage, support, supervise and provide annual appraisals for staff team and volunteers.
To ensure that staff and own training and development needs are identified and met.
To be responsible for the staff rota and tracking staff leave / sickness / absence.
To be responsible for induction, support and monitoring of new staff during probationary periods.
To ensure all staff are aware of the setting s policies and procedures.

Requirements

You must have held an NVQ level 3 qualification in childcare or equivalent for at least 3 years, with 1 years relevant childcare management or leadership experience.

Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
At least 3 years experience in a childcare setting.
At least 1 years leadership or management experience.
DSL or relevant Safeguarding Children experience
A great understanding of the EYFS.
A passion and enthusiasm for childcare.
Great communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal.
Good timekeeping, organisation and reliability.
