Quality Engineer

Quality Engineer required for my client based near to Crawley, West Sussex.

The successful quality engineer will be in charge of managing the quality of both the electrical and electronic products, at the company.

Quality Engineer Position Overview

• Interacting and communicating effectively with suppliers, this would involve being at various suppliers premises (across the UK).
• Assist in implementing new companies products, ensuring that technical queries and ambiguities are resolved in a timely fashion.
• Ensure that all relevant engineering changes are communicated and understood and that necessary changes to manufacturing processes are planned and implemented.
• Assist in identifying robust corrective actions and progress the implementation thereof.
• Assess the suppliers manufacturing processes, identifying and mitigating risks using recognised quality tools.
• Monitor and investigate field issues, by using service call logs or the companies' remote monitoring system, prioritising problems for additional analysis and correction.
• Development of in-house test methods, so that the test process acts as an effective filter for non-conforming products and incorrectly configured systems.
• Review all engineering changes (including new product introduction) and ensure that the necessary changes to test processes / equipment are considered and implemented.
• Manage the specification and maintenance of all test equipment.
• Ensure that engineering changes or new product introductions are tracked and monitored, so that any adverse effects are identified and communicated in a timely manner.
• Regularly update the management team on; product performance, identified risks and issues, current projects and continuous improvement roadmap.

Quality Engineer Position Requirements

• Degree qualified in an electrical or electronic engineering focussed course.
• Previous quality experience / managing suppliers at an industrial engineering company in a production environment, within either electronic or electrical test / assembly work.
• Able to deal with suppliers to ensure that the quality of their products are continuously improved and that any issues are resolved in a timely manner without cost.
• Experience of an MRP / ERP system (preferably Dynamics 365).
• Background in quality assurance and product inspection methods.
• Six sigma green/black belt.
• Experience with design software (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor) for viewing and interrogating models / designs.
• Willing to travel across the UK to supplier premises (50% in office 50% at supplier premises).
• Commutable distance of Crawley.
• Full UK driving license.
• Two COVID Vaccinations.

Quality Engineer Position Remuneration

• Salary - GBP40,000 to GBP50,000 - dependent upon experience
• Monday to Friday 08:45 to 17:15.
• 33 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays). After long service this increases further.
• Out of pocket expenses reimbursed.
• Company Pension Scheme - 5% company contribution. 8% after 2+ years' service.
• Life insurance after qualifying probationary period.
• Private health and increased pension contributions after further qualifying period (2 to 3 years).
