Job Title: Income Protection Claims Assessor
Location: Hybrid. Offices are based in Exeter

The role:
Would you like to work in a friendly mutual, receive a competitive salary and amazing benefits? We are looking to grow our team and recruit an experienced Claims Assessor with a focus on Income Protection products.
Assess and authorise IP claims and review ongoing claims with appropriate referrals and make recommendations for management plans
Arrange independent assessments, treatments, home visits etc with our suppliers
Help our members with a smooth return to work
Write confidential correspondence to medical professionals, financial advisors, policyholders, reassurers, employers and suppliers.
Enhance your CPD by researching and keeping up to date with developments in the industry and initiatives in claims management
To understand and follow the relevant financial regulations Principle based Regulation and to report any failures/potential risks to the Manager immediately
Experience & Qualifications:
Previous experience of assessing IP Claims required
Life Claims assessing desirable
Claim business processes including policy cover, financial/medical underwriting criteria and conflict handling
Insurance industry knowledge
Understanding of the financial advisor market and how it interacts with the company's products
Sound IT skills
Great people skills and experience in dealing with customers, advisors and medical professionals over the phone or by email
Excellent organisational skills with a track record of being efficient and methodical
A demonstrable positive approach that enables you to work in a varied role and juggle multiple tasks
Excellent letter writing skills
