What will you be doing?

You will manage the Education, Communication and Outreach function for a single municipal waste contract, ensuring strategic annual and project plans are delivered to meet objectives.

You will provide general communications support for the contract as required, and be in day-to-day contact with Client Officers and Contract Managers. The role includes the following:

Delivering communications strategies developed for the contract and supporting the Area Communications Manager to develop plans
Supporting regional and national communications objectives within contract, as required
You will be accountable for budgets, quality, compliance and production of communication materials
Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement within the contract and remit
Lead on the design and development of specific waste and sustainability-related projects and activities to deliver on contractual objectives
Support the Area ECO Manager to provide day-to-day communication support for the contract, including responding to email enquiries and writing educational letters
Deliver outreach activities including school visits, pop-up community events, face-to-face resident engagement and development of recycling communications materials
Support the Digital and PR team as needed with reactive media and social media enquiries

What are we looking for?

Essential:

Ability to build good working relationships with the client and contract management
Experience leading a team to deliver on strategic objectives
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills
Experience in delivering behavioural change campaigns or projects
Ability to work as part of a team with the confidence to work on your own and plan, prioritise and manage your own workload
Project development and management skills
Experience of content production across multiple communication channels
Computer literate with strong Microsoft Office or Google Suite skills
Educated to Degree level or demonstrate equivalent competence

Desirable:

Knowledge of waste and resources sector
Understanding of PR, social media, social advertising and digital communications
Understanding or experience of working with local authorities
Advanced understanding of data management and analysis
Holder of a Full UK Driving Licence
