My client is seeking a diligent and capable Accounts Assistant to join their York, North Yorkshire Offices.
Main Duties and Requirements
• Provide support and assistance in the smooth and efficient running of the Accounts Department
• Issue of cheques in accordance with instructions received.
• Posting of chits relating to client account transactions.
• Daily bankings.
• Verification of Completion Statements.
• Checking of bills.
• Arrange for client monies to be transferred to the Undesignated Deposit Accounts (daily movement of monies from/to Bank of Scotland).
• Inputting of transactions onto HSBCnet online banking system.
• Filing and archiving of Accounts Department records.
• Assist Accounts Supervisor.
• Payment of office invoices.
• End of day routines and reports.
• Reconcile land registry, chancel & Yorks Water searches accounts.
• Taking card payments over the counter and by telephone
• Ensure the positive representation of the firm in all dealings with clients and others.
• Helping with account enquiries from both clients and staff.
Skills Requirement s
• Good all round general education
• Inter-personal skills
• Keyboard skills
Ideal Candidate
• Experience of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
• Experience of Partners for Windows but not essential as training will be provided.
• Good English grammar/spelling, familiarity with legal terminology and numerical skills.
• Excellent communication skills including experience in dealing with a range of clients via telephone and face-to-face; discretion and confidentiality.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workloads to the required standard and within the required timescales.
• Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently.
• Ability to work under pressure as and when required (this may involve some flexibility in working hours).
• Proactive and able to use own initiative within guidelines as set by the Directors and Head of Department.
