Role
Our client specialise in the development, manufacture and distribution of ceramic tile adhesives, grouts, silicone sealants and ancillary products for a wide range of applications. They are a market leader in the UK professional tiling market and renowned for their stringent product quality and excellent technical and training services.
They are looking for a technician to join the Research and Development team to provide support for EN and ANSI testing of a range of BAL and Ardex Group products.
Duties and responsibilities
The key activities of the R+D Technician will be:
Conducting ANSI and EN tests to define the performances of adhesives, grouts and levelling compounds to international standards
Evaluating the performances of raw material alternatives in established formulations.
Adapting and optimizing formulations to tolerate local raw materials
Conducting mixer capability trial
Conducting QC tests of Ardex Group products manufactured in the USA or Middle East.
Skills and experience
In addition to the work detailed above, the successful candidate should have the potential to develop to become a R+D Chemist, responsible for the formulation of a wide range of products. Whilst the main activities of the R+D Technician are as listed above, time will also be made available for training in formulation development.
Applicants should have a degree in science or a minimum of 3 years experience in a laboratory environment. Experience of ANSI or EN testing is preferable but not essential. A willingness to travel is essential and the successful candidate should be an excellent team player.

Working hours are 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.00pm.
