Engineering Placement Opportunities - Software Engineer

At the Plymouth location we design and manufacture products for control, navigation and guidance for surface and air applications in the global aerospace and Defence markets. Our world leading products include the innovative MEMS based IMUs and the digital terrain reference navigation system, TERPROM .
We have several engineering positions available to support our existing engineering capability and our future growth plans.
Software Engineer - We are looking for someone with a keen interest in a career within software engineering and the intention to study a software related degree.
Key Responsibilities:-
Gain an underlying knowledge of business processes and the product lifecycle
Learn and apply baseline technology used in our inertial products
Research and understanding how our current gyroscopes and accelerometers work
Support the design, development and testing of our existing and pre production products
Produce formal documentation as directed
Configure new hardware designs
Build prototype electronic circuits
Present new designs and ideas to design authorities
Real-time navigation systems: Ada programming legacy system supported by C & C++ tools, requirements, design, testing, integration and rehosting onto new platforms
Inertial measurement units: Mainly C programming with C++ for support tools, some rapid prototyping, requirements, design, testing and integration
Joint Venture: Mainly C++, requirements, design, testing and integration in an agile style environment
You will be highly motivated, diligent and excited by STEM subjects, be happy working on your own initiative and as part of a small team. You will either complete your STEM related A level studies, including Maths and Physics this year, or already be studying a university degree in an engineering discipline, preferably in Systems, Software, Electronics, Physics or Robotics.
What else? Many of our graduate population have commenced their time with us as Year in Industry students and have both enjoyed the work and demonstrated great potential. This could be you, and if so you will have the option of sponsorship and paid engineering work throughout your degree studies. After that you will join our two year Graduate Development Programme. Then? Well like our products, the sky s the limit!
