We currently have an exciting opportunity at Fort George Ranges for a full time Variable Days, Training Area Operative. Please note this role is working 5 in 7 days so may include weekends and bank holidays.

As the Training Area Operative you will be responsible for carrying out any duties within your capability as required to support estate delivery focusing on but not limited to Training Areas and to ensure that the Training Estate Facilities are fit for purpose.

This varied role will mainly operate outdoors on the ranges, with the following responsibilities:

• Preparing military ranges and training areas for use

• Preventative maintenance

• Grounds maintenance

• Forestry and maintenance works

• Manufacturing targets

• Calibrating electronic target systems

• Equipment testing

• Driving and operating fleet vehicles

• To ensure that the Training Estate Facilities adhere to safe systems of work

• Liaise with stakeholders

• Use both IT and paper based systems to complete any relevant documentation

• Handover and takeback of training areas and accommodation

• Cleaning accommodation and range complex

What you can do

• Knowledge in H&S such as COSHH, manual handling, risk assessment and safe systems of work

• Experience of track and fencing maintenance and working in rural environments

• Have a full drivers licence valid in the United Kingdom

• Ability to operate rural plant and machinery (holds valid certificate) not essential as training will be given

• Willingness to undertake any training required

• Basic IT skills
