Job description
We have an exciting opportunity as a Container Planner where you will manage the stock levels, releases and movement of 20' & 40' equipment across all depots, rail terminals and ports throughout the UK.
We believe the successful Container Planner should have the following skills:
- Proven ability to manage and forward plan within a fast paced, demanding and constantly evolving environment
- Experience in a Transport planning environment preferable
- Support for team members and cross department colleagues at all times
- Ability to address and resolve day to day business issues with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good numeracy, literacy, and IT skills, including Microsoft skills (Outlook, Excel/ Destin8/Link/Paris)
- Be able to demonstrate a professional manner
- Ability to be flexible and meet strict deadlines
- Must remain focused on prioritisation of day to day emails and tasks
- Excellent communication internally and with HQ as well as a continued positive attitude to new business challenges
The key tasks for the Container Planner are:
- Daily routing of equipment In line with export demands, considering cost to the agency
- Stock control of equipment across Rail Terminals, Depots and Ports in line with demand and transport availability
- Control equipment, monitoring and ensuring return in timely manner
- Movement of empty containers by road/rail in order to cover forecast export volumes
- Maintain relationship and communication with the Container Control team and offering daily assistance where required
- Assisting in the routing of dry and Reefer equipment in line with export demands, considering costs to the agency
- Weekly check on ageing equipment and ensure system is up to date to provide visibility to the business
- Analysis of historical data and trends relating to equipment forecast vs bookings
- To deal and proactively manage EDI errors and related issues, communicating this to the team, Logistics Analysts and Depots in a timely manner
- Arrange and monitor off-hire/sale units in line with MSC Geneva instructions
- Complete regular Stock Checks and monitoring of equipment levels in depots and on Terminals
- Administer clerical tasks and procedures accurately and efficiently
