Contract Python/Java Developer
WA Consultants is currently recruiting for a contract Python/Java Developer for an initial 6 month contract.
The successful candidate will support a large, established client based in Exeter and will be responsible for the following:
- Developing and extending Python-based AWS Lambda APIs
- Building new Java classes to extend our API Management platform
- Working with the Solutions Architect to design and deliver product features
- Technically Lead the team, including mentoring junior developers
- Assisting testing and peer reviews of technical delivery
- Providing technical advice to internal users of the system
Essential Qualifications
- A working knowledge of implementing or supporting REST APIs using an API Management solution (eg WSO2, Apigee)
- Highly proficient in Python and Java development
- Experience of building unit tests with Junit and mocking frameworks, eg Mockito
- Demonstrable knowledge of using Amazon AWS services including Lambda, EC2 and experience of the AWS CodePipeline
- Strong communications skills with evidence of an organised and structured approach to your work and ability to work within an agile scrum team environment
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Experience of supporting and working on live products
Desirable Qualifications
- Development experience using Spring and Spring Boot
- Development experience using JavaScript
- Experience with git/github and the Atlassian toolset
- Good understanding of Maven
- Good understanding of Linux Shell Scripts (eg bash)
- Integration experience using REST APIs and JSON
- Working knowledge of Auth and Auth protocols, including OAuth2 and API keys
- Collaborative team ethic
