KWS UK Ltd. is looking to recruit at the earliest opportunity a Wheat Breeding Technician. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Thriplow near Cambridge.

In this position you will join our team and assist with field, laboratory and glasshouse operations essential for the successful development of new varieties.

What you can expect in this role:

• Leading the WW crossing in the glasshouse.
• Oversee the harvesting of wheat pedigree ears in conjunction with wheat breeders.
• Assist with organisation and preparation of pedigree seed for sowing.
• Oversee making Pedigree field books.
• Disease scoring of pedigree material as directed by the Wheat Breeder.
• Training and mentoring of members of the breeding team and temporary staff.
• Assisting selection of breeding material.
• Managing Winter Wheat breeding practicalities during the year - particularly the indoor turnaround.

What you bring in:

• You are eager to learn about plant breeding
• This position requires a flexible approach and ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Desire to take on areas of responsibility and progress your career
• Data Management is a part of this position, uploading and dealing with data on Excel and inhouse software
• Trustworthiness, reliability, good team leadership skills and a high level of motivation
• You hold a Full Driving license
• Previous experience in the agricultural sector would be a plus.
• Willingness to work extended hours during harvest, drilling and other peak periods
