In 2021, Kew launched its Manifesto for Change and training the next generation of experts is one of Kew s five key priorities for the next 10 years. Instrumental to this is the training of global biodiversity scientists to understand, protect and restore biodiversity.

On joining the Science education team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the coordination of our postgraduate education programme. This will focus on coordinating the delivery of our three MSc courses by working closely with our academic partners and internal scientific and teaching staff. You will also support the wider education team in the delivery of a range of other educational courses.

Collaborating closely with both internal Kew staff, and external partner organisations, you will be adept at managing large and complex administrative portfolios. You ll need to balance managing the day-to-day MSc delivery, with longer term challenges in supporting the development of the three courses. With some of our teaching moving online, you ll also be confident in helping staff to develop and deliver synchronous and asynchronous content through virtual learning platforms.

You will also be the main contact for students, so an ability to listen, support and offer impartial and confidential advice is also essential.

As well as having a degree-level qualification, you ll need to have experience in managing higher education programmes, be able to demonstrate an ability to work both collaboratively and flexibly, and have the skills to cut through complex administrative problems to find innovative and effective solutions. This is a hands-on position where your energy, style of communication and problem-solving skills are just as important as IT literacy, higher education administration experience and technical scientific knowledge.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew) is a leading plant science institute, UNESCO World Heritage Site, and major visitor attraction. Our mission is to understand and protect plants and fungi for the well-being of people and the future of all life on Earth.

We are working to end the unprecedented extinction crisis and to help create a world where nature is protected, valued by all and managed sustainably. We will achieve these goals by drawing on our leading scientific research, unrivalled collections of plants and fungi, global network of partners, inspirational gardens at Kew and Wakehurst, and our 260 years of history.

Join us on our journey as protectors of the world s plants and fungi.

Our fantastic benefits package includes opportunities for continuous learning, a generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance, an Employee Assistance Programme and other wellbeing support such as cycle to work scheme and discounted gym membership. We also offer a competitive pension, an employee discount scheme and free entry into a wide range of national museums and galleries, as well access to our own beautiful gardens at Kew and Wakehurst.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for the post.
