Location: Paisley (hybrid role working between home and office)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Salary: GBP24,000 - GBP25,000 per annum

About this opportunity


As Payroll Officer, in conjunction with the wider payroll department you will be responsible for accurately recording payroll expenditure on the organisation's financial system

Reporting to the Senior Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for payroll processing including ensuring that all paperwork is received in line with agreed timetables, all payroll notifications, including new starters, leavers, timesheets are processed accurately and to agreed timetable and all HMRC notifications, including tax codes, student loan notifications, NI changes are processed correctly.

You will be required to ensure that all payroll transactions are processed through the payroll system and that any system issues are reported to Senior Payroll Officer for further investigation, while ensuring that payroll system is reconciled with payroll accounts in the balance sheet, investigating and resolving outstanding items in a timely manner, including fully investigating any discrepancies highlighted by the Pensions and Payroll Analyst.

You will be required to prepare reports in the agreed format on a regular and ad hoc basis, along with dealing with queries from employees and external bodies (eg HMRC / Pensions Providers), and resolving these in a timely manner.

This role may be for you if???

  • You have experience working within a high-volume payroll environment, ideally within a shared service centre environment
  • You have experience working with integrated payroll and HR systems (iTrent system experience will be beneficial)
  • You can demonstrate sound knowledge of payroll and pension legislation
  • You have the ability to maintain a professional manner while working in a pressurised environment
  • You can work to tight deadlines while prioritising multiple tasks and effectively managing your time
  • You can demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills along with strong organisational and analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • You are confident problem solving using your own initiative and within a team environment
