Surrey County Council is the largest employer in Surrey. Our organisation is split across a diverse range of directorates and services spanning the entire county. This Financial Analyst role sits within Finance but also works closely with colleagues in Public Health and Public Sector Reform.

The Council is responsible for a number of Public Health functions which together aim to improve and protect the health of people living and working in Surrey. You will be joining at a time when their profile and importance as a service has never been higher.

The analyst role will report to the Senior Finance Business Partner and will assist mainly with budget monitoring and setting for Public Sector Reform and Public Health, month and year end reporting, and conducting varied financial analysis. You will present results and recommendations to support decision making. There is a lot of interaction with non-finance staff providing key insight, advice and support to the service and the ability to build relationships and demonstrate strong communication skills is important.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • Fully qualified accounting technician or actively studying for that qualification would be an advantage in this role, however degree qualified with significant vocational finance experience will be considered for the right candidate.
  • Proficient in the use and interpretation of financial data with good attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work successfully in a professionally independent and autonomous manner, managing time effectively and adhering to deadlines.

To be shortlisted to interview your CV and Supporting Statement (no more than 2 sides A4) should provide evidence, with examples where relevant, of the requirements detailed in the attached role profile and behaviours, skills & knowledge matrix.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
